Jun 07, 2013
National breast imaging expert Louise Miller, RTRM, visited The Breast Center of Suburban Imaging this week to provide advanced training to staff, focusing on enhanced skills for the breast imaging technologists.
One-on-one training sessions were held with each of The Breast Center technologists, demonstrating better ergonomics and positioning for patients while they have a mammogram, and also for the technologist who performs the exam.
"We are dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our patients here at The Breast Center," said Nycole Hardy, a mammography technologist at The Breast Center. "You should feel confident that when you come to The Breast Center, you are receiving the best level of care."
On Tuesday, June 4, Miller also spoke to 45 mammography technologists at the Northern Area Mammography Conference. Conferences are offered 2-3 times a year by The Breast Center as part of on-going education and fellowship for breast imaging technologists throughout the Twin Cities metro area. Due to high interest in Miller'ss lecture, it was presented again at Suburban Imaging - Southdale on Thursday, June 6, to 30 more technologists.
"We are thankful for the opportunity to learn from a world-renowned instructor," said Heidi Marthaler, clinic manager of The Breast Center. "Louise Miller's enthusiasm and passion for quality, continued learning, and excellence in patient care were contagious. Our technologists saw immediate results and have a renewed sense of purpose and passion for their role in quality patient care."
Miller is the co-director of the Mammography Practicum at the University of California School of Medicine in San Diego. She has taught seminars at Harvard, Stanford, the Mayo Clinic and the American College of Radiology National Breast Cancer Conferences. She is co-author of the Handbook of Mammography.
