October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Sep 30, 2019

This October, Suburban Imaging is proud to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know...

  • 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime.
  • In 2019, an estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 62,930 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
  • For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer.

  • Early detection saves lives!

The American College of Radiology and Society of Breast Imaging recommends that women age 40 and older have an annual screening mammogram, continuing as long as the woman is in good health. Suburban Imaging offers standard 2D screening mammography and tomo (3D) screening mammography. A referral from your healthcare provider is not needed to schedule screening mammography.

Have questions about screening mammography or want to know how to schedule? Click here to learn more. Screening mammograms can be scheduled at SI-BlaineSI-Burnsville and The Breast Center of Suburban Imaging

Tomo (3D) mammography is available at SI-BlaineSI-Burnsville and The Breast Center of Suburban Imaging. Request tomo when you schedule your appointment. Be sure and check with your health insurance to verify coverage.

Abbreviated Breast MRI is ideal for women with a family history of breast cancer and/or those with dense breast tissue. A referral from your healthcare provider is needed prior to scheduling. Abbreviated Breast MRI should always be done in conjunction with screening mammography.
