When It Comes To Your Healthcare, Choices Matter.

When It Comes To Your Healthcare, Choices Matter.
Choosing an outpatient imaging center over a hospital-based imaging department can have far-reaching benefits.

Think back to the last time you had a medical imaging exam. Where did you have it done? Did you ask to go anywhere specific or did you just go where your health care provider recommended? And if you’ve never had a medical imaging exam, did you know you have a choice on where you can go?

You might be surprised to learn that many people don’t do their homework when making this important decision. You may be even more surprised to find out that there are actually significant advantages to choosing an outpatient imaging center over a hospital. You will save time and money while obtaining an accurate, high-quality exam.

Here are five reasons why you should choose an outpatient imaging center:

1)   Safety

Perhaps the most important factor in any healthcare decision in 2021 is your safety. Suburban Imaging offers a patient experience unlike those found at a hospital. Our imaging centers are small, which eliminates your exposure to crowded waiting areas and large care teams. Your only close, in-person contact during your appointment is with the technologist who is performing your exam.

The safety of our patients, staff and community is our top priority, and we are taking every precaution to minimize the risk of COVID-19, through stringent patient screening, mask requirements, enhanced cleaning measures and social distancing. Click here to review our COVID-19 safety measures. We follow the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and the Minnesota Department of Health.

2)  Convenience

We have eight imaging centers, conveniently located in communities around the Twin Cities metro area, close to home. We offer free, convenient parking, not crowded parking ramps that require a long walk to the door. You will enter our building and have a very short distance to cover to arrive in our waiting room and reception desk. No long corridors. No wrong turns.

3)    Service

Hospitals are busy places with a high volume of patients. Appointments may be scheduled out for weeks at a time. At Suburban Imaging, we have appointment times readily available, sometimes even on the same day. Often times in a hospital setting, even with a scheduled appointment, imaging patients are delayed to accomodate unforeseen ER patients, resulting in unanticipated long wait times for you.

4)    Cost

For medical imaging, you will often pay between 30 to 50 percent less at an outpatient imaging center than at a hospital for the very same exam. At Suburban Imaging, we accept most major health insurance plans and will work with your insurance company on getting prior authorization before your appointment.

5)    Quality

People often avoid outpatient imaging centers because they perceive hospitals as an authority. In reality, imaging exams at Suburban Imaging are interpreted by the same board-certified radiologist that would read your hospital-based exam and the results are sent to your referring healthcare provider within 24 hours. This quick turnaround means fast results for you and your provider. We use the latest technology and highest-quality equipment available, ensuring accurate exams and results.

Last but certainly not least, all Suburban Imaging outpatient centers are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). We have met stringent quality requirements and nationally-accepted standards. This accreditation certifies that our:

  • radiologists have met strictly-regulated education and training standards
  • technologists are certified and credentialed by their respective national boards
  • imaging equipment is routinely inspected by a third-party medical physicist to ensure it is operating correctly and producing optimal images
