Health Screenings

Take an active role in your health. The following screening exams are available at Suburban Imaging; talk with your healthcare provider if they are right for you:

Cardiac Calcium Score

Do you know your risk for stroke or heart attack? This screening detects and measures the amount of calcium in your coronary arteries, which is an indicator of heart disease.

Who should be screened: men age 35-70 or women age 40-70, with additional health factors.

CT Lung Cancer Screening

If you were a smoker (or still are), this screening offers an effective way to identify lung nodules or cancer, even in early stages. Lung cancer is still the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. Like most cancers, early detection provides more treatment options and the best possible outcomes.

Who should be screened: yearly screening for men or women age 55-80 who currently smoke or quit within the last 15 years, and 30 pack-year smoking history.

Screening Mammography

Mammography is the most effective method of early breast cancer detection. Screening mammography has helped reduce the breast cancer death rate in the U.S. by 30%.

Who should be screened: yearly screening for women age 40 and older.

Bone Density

Two million broken bones in the U.S. alone are due to osteoporosis each year, according to the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Bone density or DEXA, is a specialized x-ray exam that can detect low bone mass and measure bone mineral density.

Who should be screened: recommended that women get a baseline score between the ages of 30-40 and then screened again when 65 or older, or younger postmenopausal women who have other risk factors for osteoporosis.

Varicose Veins

Tired, achy legs? Varicose veins or spider veins? Swollen ankles at the end of the day? These are indicators that the veins in your legs are not working properly. Vein disorders are very common, affecting more than 24 million Americans.

Who should be screened: men and women with leg symptoms described above.
